In it for the Long HAUL! That is the slogan on the front of a T-shirt I designed for Andy to mark our engagement, which occurred on December 14, 2008. Here's how it happened....We met doing our Chaplain training at Harborview Medical Center. 15 months later we had met each other's families, the dogs, and discussed the intricacies of our faith, humor, and history. Andy arranged a 30th Birthday weekend for me at our friend Emily's cabin. We spent the weekend playing in the snow with friends at Rimrock Lake and White Pass (near Yakima, WA). While our friends headed home, Andy prepared a wonderful meal and sent me on a birthday scavenger hunt around the cabin. My last surprise gift was a DVD, a compilation of cheers and birthday wishes from friends and family, followed by a loving message from Andy. Then he shared some sweet words in person and got out a beautiful ring (formerly belonging to his great grandmother). We both cried....and agreed to marry each other.
